My place.

To be frank,
I'm blady sleepy right now.

Coz for the past 2 weeks I've been having sleepless nights studyin' for trials.
And when I DO get sleep,
I dream of whatever I studied before sleeping.
So imagine,
when you finally think you can forget the world..
you dream about all the parts of the mandible and the fossae and foramens present in your skull.. including the veins, nerves and arteries running through each and every one of it.
But it all ended today... only to have 2 weeks of study break...
and then...
the finals.

So basically,
it is an unending cycle.

The book that made Anatomy much easier.

Ah, atlas... you my BFF.

HAHAH.

I particularly dreamt of this page..
coz I was literally memorising the damn page.
Heck, I can even tell you the page number.

and a gazillion other more complicated diagrams and parts to remember...
Imagine this is just your bones....
I'm not gonna start on the brain and the.. the... meh.

I have to say,
Dr Frank Netter is a genius.

Just in case you didn't know.
He's the one who made all med students' life easier.
He dissected every single part of the human body and painted it intrinsically.
Beautiful book.

Eventhough BDS students only use the 'Head & Neck' chapter of the book,
I still went through the entire book and..

Actually,
it's not the parts that's tough..
it's the gazillion vessels and nerves that goes through it.

And to identify a single vein and nerve in the cadaver is like... -.-
And cadavers ain't coloured like the atlas.

So,
imagine me... this petite thing..
sitting on the floor with a mini table with my atlas wide open.
and on my hand..
is a real skull.
And imagine me,
this petite thing..
sitting on the floor with a skull.. trying to identify all the parts.. comparing with the atlas..
AT 3 A.M.

Meet my friend Mr.Skull, still in his new wrapper months ago.

It used to scare me at night.
But now I just leave it on the table and let it stare at me.

And this... one of the bodies in the lab.
I know what you're thinking.
Yes that's how your skin becomes when it gets preserved.
Yes that's what's underneath the skin.

Yes, it doesn't bug me

epiccc.

It's not just bones and vessels and veins..
it's also muscles and glands and soft tissue..
and oh, histology slides.
All the cells look the same..
and you won't believe those stuff actually makes up the components of your body..
It's weird.
I'll never look at my own body the same way again.

One of my lecturer used to yell at us for laughing/smiling during anatomy because:

"Anatomy is a subject where the dead teaches the living!!! It is NOT A JOKE. NO LAUGHING!!!!"

Aiyaiyaiii..
So I guess we should be really thankful to the bodies.
Because, without them, anatomy would just be... impossible to understand.
I hereby pray that may their souls rest in peace.
